What is Pradosh Vrat?

Pradosh Vrat is observed on Trayodashi (13th tithi) of both Shukla and Krishna Paksha, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The word "Pradosh" means the twilight period after sunset — the most sacred time for Shiva worship.

Pradosh Kala (twilight) lasts approximately 2 hours 24 minutes (6 ghatikas) after sunset. Shiva puja performed during this window is believed to be exponentially more powerful than at other times.

Weekday Significance

Soma Pradosh (Monday): Family harmony, peace of mind, Chandra-Shiva worship
Bhaum Pradosh (Tuesday): Health, courage, relief from debts and diseases
Shani Pradosh (Saturday): Most powerful — removes Saturn's malefic effects, combined Shani-Shiva worship
Other days: Budh (Wed), Guru (Thu), Shukra (Fri), Ravi (Sun) — each has specific benefits
